Sea kayaking to Kornati

The classic adventure trip from Biograd: a multi-day sea kayak expedition through the Kornati archipelago. Local operators run 3-7 day guided trips with camping or hotel-base versions:

  • 3-day intro: around 350-500 EUR per person all-in
  • 7-day full expedition: 900-1,400 EUR per person, includes all meals and gear

For a single-day taste, a guided full-day kayak tour to nearby Pasman island runs 80-120 EUR per person.

Best season: late May through September. Wind windows matter - operators check forecasts and may shift days.

Hiking and trail running around Vransko jezero

Vransko jezero Nature Park is the best inland adventure base in the area:

  • 30 km lakeside loop - full day on foot or 2-3 hours by bike. Flat, gravel, no shade in places (bring water).
  • Kamenjak viewpoint - 3 km return, 200m elevation, easy. Best at sunrise or sunset.
  • Bird-watching dawn walks - in April-May and September, the lake is on a major migration route. Guided dawn walks are sometimes available; ask at the park office in Pakostane.

For trail running, the lake loop in shoulder season is ideal - cool, flat, no traffic.

Cliff jumping, free-diving, and swimming adventures

The red cliffs of Bosana / Crvena luka (2 km south of Pakostane) are the local cliff jumping spot. Several heights from 3 m to 8 m. Water is deep but check before jumping - swim down first to confirm.

Important: cliffs are not officially sanctioned. Jumping is at your own risk. The local rule is jump only where you have seen others jumping recently, and always with a buddy.

Free-diving lessons are available from a couple of operators - typically a 2-day intro course around 250-350 EUR. The Pasman channel is the perfect classroom - calm, clear, and not too deep.

For a long open-water swim, the 2 km crossing from Sveti Filip i Jakov to a small uninhabited islet is a local favorite. Safer with a kayak escort - we can arrange this for guests.

Mountain biking on Pasman and around the lake

Pasman island has the best mountain biking in the area - rocky tracks across the spine of the island, several climbs over 200 m, and very little traffic. Rent a bike in Biograd, take the 5-minute car ferry, and explore.

Suggested route: from Tkon ferry port, ride south through Banj and Neviane to the highest point (Bokolj, 274 m), then loop back via the western coast road. About 35 km total, mixed gravel and tarmac.

Around Vransko jezero, the 30 km loop is flat but the inland tracks around Kamenjak give you proper climbs.

Other adventure activities

  • Parasailing from the town beach in peak summer - 50-70 EUR for 10-15 minutes. Surprisingly tame; more "scenic" than adrenaline.
  • Flyboard - jet-powered hoverboard from the marina. 50-80 EUR for 15-20 minutes. Very hard your first time; hilarious to watch.
  • Night squid fishing - 4-6 hours on a small boat after dark with a local skipper. Magical when it works (calm water, oil lamps lit). 70-100 EUR per person.
  • Skydiving - the nearest drop zone is Sinj, about 1h 30m by car. Tandem jumps from 4,000 m around 250-350 EUR.
  • Sailing race weeks - join a regatta if you have racing experience. Several events through the season; ask Marina Kornati for the schedule.
