Day Trip to Pasman Island From Biograd na Moru

Pasman is the quiet island 5 minutes by car ferry from Biograd - a 60 km2 escape with longer beaches, fewer tourists, and the 12th-century Benedictine monastery in Tkon. A half-day or full-day trip is the easiest local outing from Biograd, and the only one that does not require a long drive.

How to get there

Car ferry: Biograd to Tkon every 30-60 minutes in summer (Jadrolinija). Crossing time 5-7 minutes. Adult ticket roughly 3 EUR, car 12-18 EUR depending on length. Buy tickets at the kiosk before boarding or online via Jadrolinija app.

In peak July-August, expect queues for the car ferry - arrive 30-45 minutes before departure. Foot passengers walk on.

You can also reach Pasman by the bridge from Murter (longer drive but no ferry queue).

What to see on Pasman

Pasman is long and narrow (20 km × 2-3 km). Main villages, north to south:

  • Tkon (ferry port, biggest village, several restaurants)
  • Banj (small beach, family-friendly)
  • Neviane (centre of the island, smaller hill villages inland)
  • Mrljane and Mali Pasman / Veli Pasman (south, quieter coves)

Highlights:

  • St. Cosmas and Damian monastery (12th-century Benedictine, near Tkon) - active, modest entry fee, atmospheric
  • Banj beach - shallow, family-friendly, less crowded than Soline
  • Mountain biking across the spine - 35 km mixed gravel and tarmac loop, climbs over 200 m
  • Small konobas in inland villages serve goat, lamb, and home-made wine

Beaches on Pasman

Pasman beaches are quieter than the mainland equivalents. Best options:

  • Sovinje (between Tkon and Banj) - sandy pockets between pebbles, family-friendly
  • Mali Pasman / Veli Pasman bays on the southwest - quietest, longer pebble shore
  • Plaza Lokva near Neviane - sheltered cove
  • Coves on the eastern coast between Tkon and Banj - small and unmarked, walk the coastal road and find one

Sea is calm in the channel side, slightly windier on the open western side. Most beaches have free parking nearby.
