How to get there
By car: 165 km / 2 hours from Biograd via the A1 motorway to Gospic exit, then country road. The drive is the limiting factor of the day - leave Biograd by 7 a.m. to be at the park gates at 9 a.m.
Organised tour from Biograd: 50-80 EUR per person, full-day (10-12 hours), includes transport, park ticket, and a guide. Saves the driving but ties you to a schedule. Most operators offer this.
No realistic train or bus option for a day trip - public transport adds hours.

Walking the park
Plitvice has 8 marked walking routes (labeled A-K) from 2 hours to 8 hours total. The boardwalks pass directly over and alongside the cascading water.
Recommended for a day trip from Biograd:
- Route C (4-6 hours) from Entrance 1 - covers Lower Lakes, electric boat across Kozjak (the biggest lake), Upper Lakes, train back to Entrance 1. The classic full Plitvice experience.
- Route B (3-4 hours) - Lower Lakes only. Good if time is short or weather is iffy.
The boardwalks are flat but can be slippery in spots. Wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops). Bring water and snacks (limited food inside).
